As rumored, the Motorola Citrus is going live in Verizon stores tomorrow, which will go for $49.99 on a two-year contract after mail-in rebate.
As the pricetag might suggest, the Citrus isn’t what you’d call an incredibly high-end phone: it runs Android 2.1,has a 3 megapixel camera, 3-inch QVGA touchscreen, Wi-Fi b/g, GPS, 3G over EV-DO, and a 528 MHz processor. It also packs a rear-facing touchscreen like the Charm or Backflip, which, from what I gather, is of questionable utility. The Motorola Citrus is eco-friendly to boot – the housing is 25% post-consumer recycled plastic, and the whole thing is PVC and BFR-free. Likewise, the packaging and instruction manual is mostly made of recycled paper.
It’s a neat little entry-level Android handset, and the eco angle will likely pull in a few first-time smartphone buyers, but anyone looking for the big guns on Verizon will likely pick up the Droid X or Droid 2, Mother Nature be damned. Hit up their online store if you want to pick up the Motorola Citrus.
