GetGlue Offering Pre-Launch Stickers for The 4-Hour Body

Tim Ferriss, the dude who wrote The 4-Hour Work Week in 2007, is releasing another book called The 4-Hour Body, where he’s offering a bunch suggestions for improving your body in simple, timely, and unusual ways. Ferriss tried each and every solution himself and provides his anecdotal experience. Mobile check-in app GetGlue has partnered up with Ferriss to promote the book prior to the December 14 launch. For each of the four weeks leading up to that day, you can get an exclusive sticker (above) if you check-in to the book. Each sticker, representing the book’s major themes of “thinner”, “bigger”, “faster”, and “stronger”, are only available within that week, so they’ll definitely be limited rewards.

For those unfamiliar, GetGlue is a mobile app for iPhone and Android that lets you share and discover stuff you like, in categories ranging from books, to movies, TV shows, video games, wines, and a lot more. You can earn rewards that are shown off on your profile for particular check-ins, and you can leave reviews on any topic. It’s quite the vibrant community in and of itself, but I use it primarily to share what movie I’m watching with friends on Facebook and Twitter.

It still strikes me as a bit odd to ask people to check in to a book without actually reading it, but if you think of a check-in more as a gesture of attention rather than “this is what I’m doing right now”, the usefulness of these kinds of apps certainly expands. I’m also glad that GetGlue is spending more time on stuff other than movies and TV shows. From what I’ve been told, there will be some cool video game-related rewards coming soon.

Anyway, download links to the app are below if you want to give it a shot. Still waiting on a BlackBerry version…
