Greetings, earthlings. I’m pleased to report that my bud Martin Kool has gone ahead to complete his quest in completing Space Quest: The Sarien Encounter for iPad… and yes, it’s packed full of all the retro-goodness you remember.
The great thing about this game is the fact that it’s completely web based. You read right, web based. All you need to do is load the URL in Safari, save the bookmark to your homescreen (you’ll get a nice little ‘Space Quest’ icon), and you’re on your way to hours and hours of Space Quest action.
Martin was kind enough to offer me pre-release access to the game, and to be quite frank, I can’t say enough good things about it. If you remember the original title, he stayed as true to it as he possibly could. The game plays lightning fast, and there’s no delays… and perhaps the best feature of all is the saving slots. This allows you to save your progress wherever you happen to be…to access these slots all you have to do is rotate the iPad to portrait mode. Easy.
