If you thought the iPhone and iPad go together with retro games like toast and jam, wait till you see the items I’m about to share with you. Coming from Etsy (no surprise there), user GeekUnique has put together a couple of docking solutions for your iPhone or iPad.
The first is an iPhone dock made out of, you guessed it, a Super NES controller. I hadn’t seen a Super NES controller in such a long time, it kind of put a smile on my face when I noticed it. Combine that with iPhone docking capabilities, and you have yourself an iPhone dock that Mario and Luigi would be proud of. Very cool. By the looks of things, the seller simply removed the old cable from the controller, fished the USB cable in through the existing port, and fashioned a new hole on the front of the controller for the other end of the cable. I can only hope the cable is fastened securely within… I’m sure it is. This is a quality item, no? 🙂
The second product is an iPad dock fashioned from a recycled Nintendo 64 (pictured below). Never had one of these consoles, but I had many friends that did. Having multiple iPads as I do, I can’t help but wondering if they’d sell me their old consoles for my docking purposes… Then again, I think I’ll just stick with what I’ve got. There’s enough gadgetry around my office these days.
Whether you love ’em or hate ’em, you have to give GeekUnique a *tip of the cap* for tapping into what is surely a soft spot for gamers of the 80’s. Combine that love with the iOS-powered technology of today, and you have yourself a little bit of win.
