Nothing says “I’m freakin’ rich” like a £39,995 ($US 62,700) iPhone 4 that’s plastered with diamonds and has a 65-million year-old tyrannosaurus rex tooth set in meteoric stone on the back. The iPhone 4 History Edition is done by Stuart Hughes, and they’re selling the thing on Goldstriker, alongside some considerably gaudier luxury phones.
These guys did similar work with diamonds on a white iPhone 4 a few months ago, and although they seem to focus on iPhone for the most part, Goldstriker has given the royal treatment to a bunch of other devices, like the E71, iPad, and a variety of TVs and computers.
The History Edition iPhone 4 might be obtusely expensive, but it’s definitely a cool idea that breaks the usual gold/silver/diamond rigmarole that you see in this niche industry. It looks like next up, Goldstriker will be working on a gold edition of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 in conjunction with Australian football club Perth Glory.
For a closer look at this handset and if you’re actually considering buying one, head over to the Stuart Hughes website. Just remember, technology’s nowhere near as timeless as the diamonds and fossils – in ten years you’ll probably be wondering what you were thinking.
