Want to win a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini or the mini pro? You’re in luck, because earlier this month, Sony Ericsson launched Mini Magic, a photosharing contest and avatar creator app on its Facebook page. The Mini Magic contest lets Facebook fans upload images of things that are miniature, and the smartphone maker is putting up the Xperia X10 Mini as a little motivational carrot.
Submitted images are uploaded to a Facebook gallery where they can be viewed by other Facebook users. While browsing the gallery, Facebook fans will have the opportunity to vote on the images they like best. Votes will be tallied and the top 20 photos will advance to the final round of judging. The most imaginative, most unique, or cutest images will be eligible to win one of five Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro handsets. Five runners-up will be selected to win an Xperia X10 mini. The contest is already in progress and will continue to run until January 17th, 2011.
The X10 Mini pro and the X10 Mini were announced in February of this year and are smaller versions of the Xperia X10. Both handsets include a 2.5-inch (320 x 240) QVGA display, 600 MHZ Qualcomm processor, aGPS/GPS, WiFi, Android OS 1.6, 5-megapixel rear camera, microSD expansion, and Android 1.6 with Sony Ericsson’s custom user interface, Timescape. The Sony Ericsson Mini pro includes a landscape QWERTY keyboard. Check out our hands-on review here for more information on both of these Sony Ericsson handsets.
Alongside the contest, the Mini Magic app also lets Facebook fans create mini versions of themselves using the Mini Magic avatar maker. You can create you own custom Facebook avatar and share it across several social media services. This may not be as exciting as an opportunity to win a free Xperia handset, but it is a fun way to freshen up you avatar, which is something everyone should do from time to time.
