T-Mobile launching 4G HSPA+ MiFi in 2011?

Everyone has one, so why not T-Mobile? The carrier appears to be readying a MiFi, or mobile hotspot, launch that will be compatible with its HSPA+ network next year. Although I still cringe at calling evolved 3G technologies “4G,” the ITU has recently decided that it’s ok, so yes: this will be a 4G MiFi for the nation’s fourth largest carrier.

T-Mobile shows that it will be a 21Mbps capable mobile router, which means you’ll likely be getting half or just under half that in real world applications. It’s still a pretty good option compared to most MiFi units with other carriers which offer either 3G or WiMax wherever it’s available. And we all know that T-Mobile has some decent coverage with its HSPA+ network, so it’s an enticing deal.

Of course, since it hasn’t been officially announced, there is no word on pricing or data plans, but expect it to be comparable or competitive with what’s out there now. Usually these puppies go for about $130-150 but it seems that T-Mobile will be offering both postpaid and prepaid options for its MiFi solution. According to the leaked documents, we can expect to see this thing hit stores in Q2 2011.
