Today, Foursquare just added a new feature to its location-based social networking service: photos. And now Instagram, the photo-sharing application that lets you show off photos across a number of services, is announcing its ability to integrate photos with Foursquare. Previously, you had the option to check off Foursquare as an option to share photos on Instagram but your friends on Foursquare wouldn’t see a thing. Now, not only will you be able to automatically check in when you select the option in Instagram, but you’ll also have a nice photo included. Pretty neat, eh?
I bet you were hoping for a way to make this all seamless instead of taking a photo and somehow manipulating it with those hip, retro, tired and played out filters before adding it to Foursquare. And now you can!
Instagram seems to have taken off in a huge way since its release, racking up over 100,000 users during its first week of availability in the app store. It was also recently updated to fix a few bugs, added some new languages and include two new filters.
I love being able to snap photos and share them on Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter and now Foursquare within a single app. It’s also a nice way to just browse through pictures other folks are sharing since I sometimes find myself checking out status updates on other services that include pictures only. Now if we had the option for full-resolution pictures, it would be perfect. If you haven’t checked out the application yet and you own an iPhone, it’s free in the iTunes App Store.
