Many of us at IntoMobile feel that HTC Sense is one of the best third-party custom user interfaces out there and the company said it will continue to improve this experience by adding things like e-books, music and videos. This move will also help the company establish its own brand and stand out from the crowd.
In an interview with Forbes, the company’s head of user experience said bringing HTC Sense to the web enables it to offer many more features. The company’s launched HTCSense.com earlier this year with features like remote backup and its own navigation service and this could just be the tip of the ice berg.
“In the past year, Sense has escaped the phone,” Bamford told Forbes. “Before, Sense was the glue that tied together our Android, Windows and Brew phones. Now, Sense also lives on the web, which allows us to do cool stuff.”
The new HTC Sense features should be rolling out in 2011 and it said the e-books component would be rolling out in Europe with partnerships with Kobo and Borders Books. There’s no word on where the videos and music will be coming from but the company also hints that it will try and move into the living room with devices like the Media Link.
The new HTC Sense may also include video-chatting out of the box to take advantage of the roll out of 4G networks. Devices like the EVO 4G already have this capability but it needs a third-party app like Qik to handle this.
The move to bolster the HTC Sense multimedia could be in response to the relatively lackluster multimedia from Google out of the box. That may also be why Samsung launched the Media Hub for its Galaxy S devices.
