If you’re tired of having to dig around for your various remote controls, you may want to check out the Gear 4 UnityRemote iPhone app because it will turn your iDevice into a universal remote for all your home theater gadget.
This isn’t the first remote app we’ve seen but the UnityRemote from Gear 4 also involves a $99 piece of hardware. Once you put this circular piece of hardware that’s Bluetooth-enabled and download the UnityRemote iPhone app, you’ll be able to use your iPhone or iPod to control these devices.
“Excitement for UnityRemote has been building and we’re looking forward to having consumers start using it in their homes,” said Tom Dudderidge, CEO of Gear4, in a prepared statement. “People are already so comfortable and familiar with their iDevices, it will be a huge convenience to use it as a remote as well.”
The claim to fame is that it is supposed to be quick and easy to set up and you’ll be able to adjust the layout as much as you want to handle the multiple types of devices. It’s said to work with TV, Hi-Fi, Blu-Ray players, set-top boxes and other devices.
