MTN Rwanda has recently shared some cool figures on the use of its mobile money service. Dubbed MTN Mobile Money, it allows MTN users to send money from one mobile phone to another with main users sending money for business or relatives.
At the moment, the service is responsible for 5,000 mobile money service transactions every day which [transactions] come from about 200,000 users and 286 agents across the country.
In terms of pricing, sending money through MTN Mobile Money costs 250 Rwf for any transaction between 1,500 and 300,000 Rwf for registered users.
Finally, in addition to money remittances, MTN is working with other companies such as microfinance institutions (MFIs) to allow users the option to pay loans and make savings deposits, transfer money from their savings account to their mobile money account, and so on.
