Next-generation iPhone drawings unearthed?

Schematic drawings of what may be the next generation iPhone have surfaced, although it doesn’t reveal a whole lot about what the final product will look like. What’s up for debate right now is whether this is the next generation iPhone, or if it is the rumored Verizon model that may be coming soon.

The drawings allegedly came from Foxconn, the infamous factory that’s responsible for producing the iPhone, as well as several other electronics products. Judging by the small handful of drawings, it looks very much like the existing iPhone 4, and it looks like Apple will be sticking very closely to the current design and front and rear glass panels.

It’s hard to say whether Apple will also be using an antenna frame since it’s not depicted in the schematic drawings, but one would have to imagine that – given the controversy caused by the design last year – that particular design may change.

Rumors of a Verizon iPhone are loud as ever leading up to Verizon’s announcement on Tuesday, January 11 in New York City. Given the invite list and the nature of the event – the large venue and the separation from CES 2011 – it’s very possible that a CDMA iPhone will be announced for the nation’s largest wireless carrier.

Whether these drawings reveal the Verizon iPhone or the “iPhone 5” remains to be determined, but these leaks and rumors are still managing to steal the show from a sea of Android tablets and smartphones at CES 2011.
