Nokia closed a plant in Bochum citing the cost of labor was too high. RIM saw an opportunity, plenty of talented people who’ve been working on Nokia mobile devices for 1989 are now out of a job, which is why they’re planning on opening up a research faciliity and looking to hire 300 people. Nokia’s Supervisory Board member Ulrike Kleinebrahm told Thomson Financial that RIM is “in Bochum and is holding talks” and that it is “talking to engineers, not workers.”
