There’s just something cool about a Windows Mobile-powered handset that works on both GSM networks and TerreStar’s satellite network. Elektrobit is working to bring their Elektrobit Satellite handset to market by 2009, and by the looks of it, the mobile phone is sure to impress.
With no less than Windows Mobile 6.1 running the show, the Elektrobit Satellite phone rocks a GSM radio with an HSDPA data connection that should be enough to compete with standard cellphones. And, to keep the bar raised to ever higher levels, the Elektrobit Satellite phone features a 3 megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, microSD card slot, and of course, support for TerreStar’s satellite network.
TerreStar has plans to launch their satellite network soon, and we’re hoping to see this Elektrobit Satellite handset hit the market shortly thereafter in 2009.
Price? Don’t expect a bargain, but it’ll apparently be “competitive.”
