A few days ago we reported the changes to Sprint’s Premier plans and options. The information came from a forum where a user spoke with Sprint customer service, and details of the plans were outlined. Sprint is now making it official and says that the changes will take effect starting April 1. Here are the changes you can expect:
- Sprint Premier Gold – Individual plan of $89.99 or higher, family plan of $169.99 or higher or Sprint customer for 10 years
- Sprint Premier Silver – $75 annual upgrades, discounts on accessories and other perks
- “New For You” program still gives $75 off a new phone every 12 months towards a new phone, new customer pricing at 22 months
It’s a bit of a bummer that in the same month we learn of a price hike in smartphone data plans, and a price hike in what it takes to be a Sprint Premier customer. But by comparison, the carrier still has some of the most competitive rate plans out there and its coverage in dense cities never seems to disappoint.
If you’re currently a Sprint Premier customer, your perks and status won’t be grandfathered on April 1 – you’ll have to adjust your plan just like the rest of them. Unless, of course, you’ve been a customer for 10 years or more. Then you’ve got nothing to worry about.
