HTC Thunderbolt Unboxed on Video, Benchmarked

The HTC Thunderbolt isn’t due out on Verizon for a couple of days still, but Wirefly was nice enough to provide a sneak peek at the phone prior to launch. It scored 1831 on the the Quadrant benchmark test, and 1113 on producitivity in SmartBench 2010, and 1525 for gaming.

There aren’t any huge surprises in the unboxing and overview videos below, since everything was more or less revealed at the announcement a last month. The HTC Thunderbold has a 4.3-inch 480 x 800 display, 1 GHz processor, 8 GB of internal storage plus 32 GB microSD card, an 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, 1.3 megapixel camera on the front for video chat, runs Android 2.2 with the usual Sense customizations, and will be Verizon’s first LTE handset.

Even though Verizon’s having a field day with the iPhone, Android is a huge part of their lineup, and with the 4G wars just getting started, they needed a beast of a phone to sell LTE to the masses. Shy of a dual-core processor, the HTC Thunderbolt is about as mean as it gets; now we just have to see what AT&T and the others bring to the plate at Mobile World Congress next week.

Without further ado, here are the videos, and if you’re still looking for more, we got some hands-on time ourselves with the HTC Thunderbolt at CES.
