Sagem Wireless rebrands to MobiWire to focus on branded devices

Sagem Wireless is no more. The new company is called MobiWire and (as far as I’ve understood) it won’t make its own devices any more. Rather they’ll focus on making branded consumer electronics for other companies.

To be fair, Sagem isn’t known for owning a decent percentage of the mobile phone market. The likes of Vodafone and Orange do offer some low-end phones made by Sagem, but I doubt these are selling like hot cupcakes.

Anyway, MobiWire will rely on its open OS user interface software called Surface to deliver better end-user experience for its clients. The mentioned software works on top of Android, but I guess it can be ported to other platforms if required.

MobiWire works (and will continue work) with retail and luxury brands like FNAC and Porsche Design, device OEMs, and industrial device systems integrators to design, develop and deliver connected devices based on industry standard reference platforms. So next time we see some non-electronics maker launching its phone or some other connected device, there’s a chance MobiWire guys and gals are behind it…
