7digital Music for Android Adds Last.fm Support

The 7digital music store and media player for Android has been updated to 1.5 with a handful of new features. If you’re the type to share your tunes, you’ll probably be familiar with Last.fm scrobbling, which is now included in the app. You can also set the app as the default media player and play own local music (not just stuff you bought from their store). There’s some additional usability upgrades, like using headphone controls, landscape support, and better track sorting to boot.

7digital has over 12 million tracks to shop through, and allows you to wirelessly sync up your collection by downloading lower-quality songs over the air, while upgrading them to 320 kbps when you’re in a Wi-Fi zone. They’re a pretty big name, scoring a preload deal on the recently-launched Galaxy S 2 and the Galaxy Tab before that. I’m not a huge fan of the pay-per-track model myself, opting instead for the flexibility and budget-conscious Grooveshark, but this is still a solid option for those who don’t want to be reliant on a wireless connection to stream audio. I’m not quite sure what the case is with DRM on Android, but the BlackBerry version sells DRM-free tunes.

If you’re looking for a fresh music player and somewhere to shop for tunes, you can find 7digital 1.5 in the Android Market.
