We’ve heard plenty about a Motorola Xoom arriving for Sprint, and it seems like it should be coming any day now. Will we find a Wi-Fi model before a WiMax-equipped version comes first? Having both launch at the same time would be ideal, I think, although Sprint really could use the tablet to rope in a few more data contracts. We’re also hearing that the Sprint version will come with the accessories we’ve seen it pictured with (i.e. that slick-looking case).
This time around, a press photo of the Motorola Xoom has leaked with Sprint branding, and it couldn’t be any more blurry. But because it’s the second time we’ve seen a Xoom with the nation’s third largest carrier’s logo on it, it seems almost certain that it will launch soon. And the sooner, the better, since the Xoom will have some healthy Android tablet competition with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 – both of which we really liked at MWC and CTIA 2011.
For those of you who have held out for a Sprint version, you can check out our review of the Verizon model before you buy. It sports Android 3.0 Honeycomb, the tablet-optimized version of the OS, and a bright, vivid 10.1-inch screen. The Xoom also packs a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 32GB of internal storage and the ability to shoot 720p video. In the hardware department, it’s certainly no slouch.
If you’re holding out for a Sprint version of the Xoom, let us know! And be patient, we’re sure it will be launching sooner rather than later.
