Unknown Motorola device may have Tegra 3 inside

The rumor of the day is quite a juicy one, as it not only involves a mysterious new handset from Motorola but a new processor from NVIDIA, the Tegra 3. While there’s no more than some pictures taken at curious angles, Motorola could still launch such a device later this year.

We’re still waiting for more Tegra 2 handsets to make it to market and have been very impressed with the offerings we’ve seen thus far. The Motorola Atrix 4G and the T-Mobile G2x are the only Android phones currently available in the US as of now, both of which are blazing fast. However, the introduction of a device with the Tegra 3 running the show would put the two aforementioned devices to shame. Quad-core processor, anyone?

From the looks of the device, or what we can see from the pictures, the design is a bit different from what we’ve come to expect from Motorola. The device looks to escape the hard edges used in the Droid family, with slight curves throughout. There’s also a silver strip along the sides of the device, which gives a nice contrast against the white body.

Droid-Life took the liberty of taking shots with the Droid X in similar angles, which shows a slight resemblance due to the fact the ports are virtually in the exact same places, but this isn’t a Droid we’ve put our eyes on before. The mystery device looks to be slightly thicker than the DX, but the curvy body may lend to a better in-hand feel.

Whatever this handset turns out to be, we’d say it may be one of the most attractive phones Motorola has ever produced, and that’s without seeing the entire device. Motorola has gone in two directions with its handsets, both of which are on the extreme side of design – stark and playful. The Droid family Motorola offers is done up with hard edges and boxy, machine-like designs, while other devices look to cater to a younger generation.

The latter of which rarely looks good, with the Backflip and Flipout being the ugliest of the bunch. The picture of the new device almost looks to be somewhere in the middle, but maybe it’s just the photo.

Could this device be the Jet or the Bullet? Only time will tell.
