Zynga has acquired UK-based mobile game developer Wonderland Software, which is best known for its iOS hit game GodFinger. As a result, Wonderland Software will become Zynga Mobile UK, marking Zynga’s first operating studio in the UK. Also under the deal, Zynga will get Wonderland’s team and select IP, not including GodFinger. Moreover, Wonderland Software’s CEO Matthew Wiggins immediately assumes the role of General Manager at Zynga Mobile UK.

Founded in 2009, Wonderland Software includes veterans of some of the UK’s biggest and best game companies, including Lionhead, Codemasters and Bullfrog. Wonderland Software’s founders include Matthew Wiggins, Mark Rose and Al Harding.

Commenting on the news, Zynga’s Senior Vice President of Mobile, David Ko, said: “Wonderland is composed of an amazingly talented, creative team, known for developing deeply engaging and innovative games. This is a team that has developed novel game technology to tell engrossing stories and I’m incredibly excited to have Wonderland join Zynga as we build a presence in the UK.”
