T-Mobile G2X official Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM leaked on video

T-Mobile recently came out and said that G2X users won’t have to wait very long before the handset sees the Android 2.3.3 update, and the majority of people laughed. Well, apparently the official update has leaked out to the world, and found its way onto video. Yep, it’s Gingerbread.

From the video below, it looks like the handset has seen very minimal tweaks, apart from being a completely updated version of the OS, of course. You’ll find the standard bloatware, as well as some extra settings throughout, but not much has changed from the Froyo build the G2X ships with. One thing that should make some users happy about this build is that it appears that touch input is a bit more sensitive, as I’ve heard a couple of people say that the lockscreen doesn’t recognize their finger when they try to unlock it the first time.

You can also find NTP sync under the date and time settings in the latest build, which gives you another way to get the date and time if you don’t want to use the network’s settings. Hardly anything to get exited about, and it’s actually one of the few differences you’ll find. Other than that, T-Mobile kept the build very stock, and seemed to have added no more bloatware, which is something we can all be thankful for.

While this does look like the official Gingerbread build for the G2X, we still have no time frame as to when the update will be hitting handsets. Still, Magenta looks to be ahead of the game when it comes to updating a phone that hasn’t been out for a full month yet, and hopefully the goods will be delivered ASAP. The build looks to be running rather well, we could expect the update to hit sooner rather than later. If we’re lucky, that is.
