Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot Android smartphone in works?

File this under “rumors” and “makes perfect sense” at the same time. We’ve no doubts Sony wants to capitalize on its brands in the mobile arena. And since that arena is steadily “getting brains,” I see no reason why they wouldn’t launch smartphones wearing the company’s famous brands. As a matter of fact, the first Walkman smartphone (W950) has been announced back in 2006, relying on the Symbian UIQ platform. This year, however, we got to see the first Android-powered Walkman smartphone (w8) unveiled and it’s fair to argue a Cyber-shot branded smartphone is on its way, too.

The blurry image above should come as a proof though it’s so blurry that it could hardly be taken as hard evidence, quite the contrary. On the other hand, as Sony Ericsson is getting deeper and deeper in the Android, it would be a smart move for them to launch a Cyber-shot Android smartphone. If that happens — and we believe it will, despite having no inside information — it’s safe to presume such a device will rock mobile Exmor R as the backlit sensor to generate extremely high quality pictures. We’ll keep our eyes on this story and let you know as soon as we hear something new. Stay tuned…
