Hey Canadians, jealous of your American bros down south with their fancy LG Android tablets? Stash that impotent dork-rage away – Rogers now has the Android 3.0 Honeycomb-powered LG Optimus Pad for sale. $449.99 with a three-year contract will get you the 8.9-inch tablet, or you could opt to pay $699.99 without any strings attached.

The screen resolution clocks in at an impressive 1280 x 768, and a dual-core 1 GHz Tegra processor makes it really move. It can access 14.4 Mbps HSPA, and share the data bucket on your smartphone’s plan for an extra $10/month. The Optimus Pad’s signature feature are the twin 5 megapixel cameras on the back which enables the capturing of 720p 3D video and still content on its 32 GB of storage. Maclean’s and SportsNet content will be preloaded in home screen widgets for some distinctly Canadian news right out of the box. Take a look at our hands-on with the European version to see how she runs.

As nice as the Optimus Pad is, the Motorola Xoom claims the title of first Honeycomb tablet in Canada, albeit a Wi-Fi-only version. That being said, the last cellular-enabled tablet we’ve seen on carriers was the original Galaxy Tab, so the LG Optimus Pad is a welcome sight. Anyone itching to pick one up? It’s over here in the Rogers online store.
