Samsung teams-up with Sina for Samsung Apps in China

Samsung is reportedly teaming-up with Chinese internet giant Sina over Samsung Apps. Under the plan, Sina’s affiliate 1000CHI Software Technology will take responsibility for Samsung’s app store in the world’s fastest growing economy. From what I’ve understood, Sina will be working with developers to help them make and/or port apps to platforms Samsung supports — which would be Android and Bada in China. On the other hand, the Korean giant will pre-install Sina’s apps on its devices for the Chinese market.

Samsung Apps has recently passed the 100 million cumulative downloads mark. It is available in 120 countries around the world, though more than 40% of downloads are generated in France, Germany and Spain. The service hosts over 15,000 applications.

For the record, Sina is a huge player in China, operating the popular Weibo mobile social networking service which has more than 50 million users.
