AT&T announces Pantech Crossover Android slider

It looks like the Android slider spotted in AT&T’s roadmap the other day has gone official. The Pantech Crossover is an entry-level Android phone in a slider form factor, packing a full landscape QWERTY keyboard beneath its 3.1-inch touchscreen.

The processor clocks in at a meager 600 Mhz, but it runs 2.2 Froyo, and has all the usual amenities, like Wi-Fi, GPS, and 3G connectivity. Although it’s not ruggedized, the Pantech Crossover is geared to the outdoorsy, coming preloaded with AllSport GPS tracking.

Android continues to dominate the U.S. smartphone market, and I think it is in no small part thanks to affordable handsets in high-demand form factors like this one. Heavy messengers really just want the keyboard and connectivity to be fair, and Android just so happens to be the icing on the cake.

Though the Pantech Crossover doesn’t necessarily rock the highest-end specs, it does have a pretty cool angular, sporty style going on, and at $69.99 on a two-year contract, it won’t break the bank either. You’ll be able to snag the Pantech Crossover starting June 5 in their online store.
