Those of you shedding a single tear for the death of the Sidekick may want to keep an eye out for a little number from Sharp headed to AT&T. Though there’s no model number attached, it’s got a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and will be running Android.
Details are scarce, but it’s expected to have a 3.2-inch HVGA display, Wi-Fi, GPS, and 3G. That puts it squarely in the mid-range category like the Sidekick, and Sharp was involved in the project, but apparently this device won’t be branded as such.
The hardware looks pretty nice and curvy, and it’s hard to argue with an honest-to-goodness physical keyboard. Sharp has yet to make a big name for itself here in North America, but Android is opening up a lot of doors for lower-tier smartphones, as we’ve seen with the recent Pantech device that just hit AT&T.
