MyTouch 4G Slide pictured – sort of

The MyTouch 4G Slide (HTC Doubleshot) has finally been pictured after a hefty amount of speculation and anticipation. From the two poorly shot photos, the MyTouch 4G Slide is exactly what we’ve been expecting: an updated MyTouch Slide 3G.

For what it was, we liked the MyTouch Slide but it was too underpowered for our taste. At the time, a 600MHz processor was simply too slow even when it was blazing fast just a few months before. This time around the MyTouch 4G Slide will be bringing us a spec-sheet that will make the spec-junkies swoon and a solid alternative to the T-Mobile G2X and upcoming Sensation 4G.

The pictures show the handset’s keyboard practically unchanged from the original, which is a very good thing. While we’d have liked HTC to throw in a dedicated number row onto the keyboard, the original was very easy to type on. The spacing between the keys and the button travel are top-notch, and we’re glad to see that HTC left it alone on the MyTouch Slide successor.

While official specs are non-existent, we can expect the handset to ship with a display between 3.7-4 inches, 8 megapixel camera, front-facing camera, the glorious keyboard, Android 2.3.4, and HTC Sense 3.0. There have been rumors of this being a 3D handset, but that’s likely not the case. We should expect the thing to hit sometime in early July, so if you’re in the need of a hot T-Mobile smartphone, wait until the MyTouch 4G Slide makes its debut before you pull the trigger.

T-Mobile’s lineup is growing stronger with each release and may soon have the most dual-core handsets available in the US. If you’re in the need of a solid handset with a great keyboard, look no further, as the MyTouch 4G Slide may be exactly what you’re looking for.
