Acer working on its slider tablet?

We’ve all seen the Asus Eee Pad Slider (pictured above) though not all of us want to have one. The Transformer is easier to carry around thanks to its detachable keyboard, which you may not need every day. However, it seems Acer likes the idea of a slider tablet and is apparently preparing to introduce such a device later this year. The information comes from Digitimes which heard it from “sources in the upstream supply chain.” According to their intel, Acer’s upcoming tablet will rock a 10-inch screen and launched in the fourth quarter of this year.

The idea is to make a differentiating product which is not “yet another 10-inch tablet” like Motorola Xoom or Acer’s own Iconia Tab A500 for that matter. If you recall, the Taiwanese company also plans to launch a 7-inch Iconia Tab A100 later in the year, though we’re not sure when that will happen.

We can only hope Acer will follow its Taiwanese “brother” and introduce some really neat tablets. A Padfone competitor with an 8.9-inch screen sounds like an awesome idea if you ask me…
