We don’t get to write about Cox Communications that often. Quite the contrary – last time we covered the cable company (7 months ago) they’ve entered the mobile space through partnership with Sprint Nextel. Now we’re hearing they want to expand to the prepaid market, though we don’t have specific timeframe to report.
In an interview with FierceWireless, Cox’s Kelly Williams (VP of wireless products and operations) said that prepaid is “definitely” on the company’s “radar screen.” He added: “We do recognize it’s important to parts of our customer base and to the overall wireless community. So it’s something that’s high on our list.”
Williams also noted that Cox can rate in real time voice, data and messaging transactions, giving it a “path to a prepaid offering that could be really sophisticated in terms of what we would provide.”
Cox is probably best known for its “MoneyBack Minutes” offering, giving customers a 5-cent credit per each unused voice minute, up to $20 per month…
