The INQ Cloud Touch has been making the rounds in Europe since the spring, but today it has found its way to North American shores by way of Telus in Canada. It’s an entry-level Android phone with modest specs, but a lot of interesting customizations geared to make it as Facebook-friendly as possible.
The INQ Cloud Touch has a 3.5-inch 320 x 480 touchscreen, 512 MB of RAM, a 5 megapixel camera on the back, and the usual connectivity like Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G, and Bluetooth. It’s running Android 2.2 and only has a 600 MHz processor, but for $29.99 on a three-year contract ($229.99 with no term), it’s really hard to argue.
In my time with it, I thought the INQ Cloud Touch was a pretty smooth little number; INQ phones always had a distinctive charm to them. Now that they’re running Android instead of Brew, they’re viable choices for the long-term since you’ll have access to mountains of apps, and (hopefully) regular updates. After seeing major manufacturers like HTC, Sony Ericsson, and Motorola have a go at custom social widgets, I’m curious what these smaller guys can offer.
