Mobile games developer Glu Mobile is teaming-up with TOM Group Limited, leading Greater China media group, to develop a smartphone storefront community for the ever-growing Chinese market. The end goal is to turn glu.cn into a leading smartphone community portal in the country. Glu will include its popular games to the partnership, while TOM Group will add its mobile internet cloud expertise and e-commerce infrastructure to make this work.
And that’s about all we have. Nothing too precise, just an intention to make more money out of Chinese mobile gamers.
Commenting on the news, Glu’s President and CEO Niccolo de Masi said: “This partnership with TOM Group is a significant step in our global strategy and will accelerate our smartphone growth in China. glu.cn is scheduled to launch in Q4 2011 and we believe it will become quickly recognized by the Chinese gaming community as the leading destination for high quality smartphone and tablet games.”
