LinkedIn apps get a redesign

The LinkedIn apps have always been good ways to keep track of your professional social networks but the apps kind of seemed like the service: It’s useful but it doesn’t blow you away. With new apps for the iPhone and Android, that has changed a bit as the LinkedIn apps have been completely redesigned and are a much more compelling experience.

In a blog post, the company said that it has reorganized the app around four key ideas:

Updates: View updates from your network and top news from LinkedIn Today
Inbox: You can view your invitations and messages in one place
You: Access your profile, connections, share updates, and even more in the future
Groups & More: Browse and interact with your groups, as well as build your network through our People You May Know feature

The iOS version actually looks pretty cool, as the news feature is front and center in a neat carousel on top and your stream is easily accessible below it. As you would expect, the app makes it easy to look up contacts. I still think that the LinkedIn apps need something like Hashable or Bump to make it super simple to use the app as a business card swapper.

Anyways, the new apps are out now and are free, check out this video below for a closer look.
