Sony Ericsson Live joins the Walkman phone family

Sony Ericsson has announced a new Android phone today called the Live, which is jam-packed with music goodness through their Walkman apps and services. Sony Ericsson has been gradually introducing the Walkman brand to their Android phones, starting with the W8 a few months ago, and this one keeps up traditional features like MusicID, powerful build-in speakers, and access to a ton of on-demand streaming music and video through Qriocity.

The specs on the Sony Ericsson Live are decent, if mid-range; it’s packing a 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording and LED flash, 3.2-inch 480 x 320 touchscreen, and connectivity over various HSPA bands. The usual stuff like Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth are included, with the whole shebang running on top of Android 2.3 Gingerbread. There’s a couple of Xperia-style customizations there as far as widgets and UI go, including the Infinite button which is designed to help you quickly find artist and album information of the music you’re listening to. I’ve never really find the Infinite button particularly useful, but I could see it getting a bit more use on a music-heavy handset.

The Sony Ericsson live will be launching in select markets starting in the fourth quarter of 2011. The announcement took place in London, so an initial release in Europe is a safe expectation.
