Google’s Android mobile platform has been the talk of the town lately. And, wtih T-Mobile’s HTC-sourced T-Mobile G1 expected to bring Android to the US mass-market in the near-term, the newest mobile OS offering is really starting to gain traction among mobile phone manufacturers.
Following on reports that Motorola is looking to take on additional Android developers as part of its push to expand the company’s Android team from 50 to 350 employees, Motorola has confirmed that they too will be hitching a ride on the Android train. Motorola is apparently “excited” about what Android has to offer and is looking “forward to delivering great products in partnership with Google and the Open Handset Alliance (OHA).”
Right, so Moto is on-board the Android train. And, with 350 Android developers in tow, it might not be too far a stretch to expect Motorola to drop some innovative Android gear next year. If there’s one thing Motorola needs right now, it’s innovative new hardware.
