Sprint Galaxy S II outed before event : Meet the Epic 4G Touch

We’re only a few hours away until Samsung takes the stage and announces the Galaxy S II for the US of A. Just in case you needed a little more confirmation before the official announcement, some slides of the Epic 4G Touch have appeared in a Samsung online training manual.

We already knew that T-Mobile’s version of the GSII, the Hercules, would get a screen bump to 4.5 inches from 4.3, and it looks like the Sprint variant will also gain a couple of fractions of an inch. According to the training slides, the screen is actually 4.52 inches of Super AMOLED Plus goodness, and we’re just fine with that.

The Galaxy S II is Samsung most popular phone to date, selling over five million units before the US launch. After the US launch, we have trouble believing Samsung won’t make it to 10 million soon after.

Previously, I had been rather unimpressed with virtually anything I’ve seen Samsung bring to the table. All I know now is that my next handset will undoubtedly be from Sammy. Likely the Nexus/Droid Prime.

The Epic 4G Touch retains the textured backing piece that we liked from the original, and that’s definitely a good thing. Giving that the piece of plastic is stupidly thin (though virtually unbreakable) the textured feel makes it feel almost like a different material. Something not made of cheap plastic. The slides also advertise the handset’s thinness, and while we’re not sure if it’s as thin as the original, it’s thin enough to advertise. We’ll take it.

So while you impatiently away the live webcast and our liveblog of the event, feel free to oodle the following slides to your heart’s content.
