Max Payne releasing on mobile platforms; Tons of enhancements

One of Rockstar Games’ most classic games about a police officer seeking revenge has been announced to be coming to mobile platforms. Max Payne for mobile is said to have enhanced HD graphics, controls that are fully customizable with support for a wired controller, and will allow players to connect to the Rockstar Games Social Club. The game will also include many of the PC version’s features.

Rockstar Games didn’t disclose which mobile platforms the game will be available for, but seeing as Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on both the iPhone and iPad, it could be assumed one of the platforms would be iOS. As for Android, since Rockstar mentioned there would be wired controller support, which I find hard to believe. Instead, maybe that’s a hint at an Android version of Max Payne is also in the works, but instead they possibly meant wireless controller support since I haven’t seen wired controller support on Android.

Gameloft’s Max Payne inspired shooter, 9mm, showed just how well a Max Payne-esque game can do on mobile platforms. The Bullet Time system allows for players to line up shots against enemies more accurately, plus diving around like a badass is something everyone loves doing. Well, in video games at least.

No release date has been announced for Max Payne, but seeing as Max Payne 3 will be releasing March 2012, we could assume that would be the ideal time frame to release Max Payne on mobile.
