After the iOS launch, mobile social gaming network OpenFeint is bringing its mobile game discovery app, Game Channel, to Android. As a result, select Android titles will be showcased through a number of “creative strategies,” with a focus on free-to-play gaming.
Some of the Game Channel features include:
- Featured Game – OpenFeint will highlight one premiere game for an extended period of time.
- Free Game of the Day – where users will find a new free-to-play game each day. What’s more, most games here will include free in-app items.
- Curated Game Lists – where top Android games will be included to make game discovery easy for gamers. Lists will change based on player feedback, but will include categories such as Free Games That Rock, Feint’s Featured Picks, New Games that We Love, and Seasonal and Promotional Selections.
In addition, Game Channel will allow Android gamers to access to OpenFeint’s social features (including their profile) from directly within the app…
My two cents: OpenFeint has done and keeps doing a lot for the mobile gaming community and this new feature will help publishers reach more players, while at the same time informing players about games they may haven’t heard about before. Neat! 😉
