Samsung’s Android-powered Galaxy W is at the FCC where the government-employed engineers are testing its radiation levels making sure the phone is safe to be sold on the U.S. soil. The version FCC folks got to play with is marked as SGH-T679M, rocks AWS bands; hinting us it’s slated for T-Mobile USA. As a matter of fact, it could be the forthcoming Ancora, which we caught at that leaked T-Mobile roadmap for October and November. If that’s true — and we think it is — T-Mobile should launch this baby within the next couple of weeks.

As a reminder, the Galaxy W comes with a single-core 1.4GHz processor, 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, HSPA+ and Wi-Fi connectivity and so on. In other words, it’s like the Galaxy S II’s little brother and in that sense we believe it will be offered for about $100 with a contract. We’ll see… In the meantime, you are free to check out the Samsung SGH-T679M’s FCC filing from here.
