As promised, the HTC Wildfire is now available at U.S. Cellular’s website and will be in the carrier’s stores across the country this Friday, October 21. The entry-level smartphone is available for free after a $100 mail-in-rebate and there’s no activation fee as part of U.S. Cellular’s “Switch for Free” promotion that runs through November 20. Customers on Belief Plans who are eligible for a phone upgrade can get the Wildfire S at the promotional price without having to sign a new contract. Alternatively, there’s the prepaid option that will instantly take $229.99 out of your pocket.
As you probably already know, the Wildfire S is a low-end device with a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth, microSD slot, while Android 2.3 Gingerbread is running the show with HTC Sense 2.1 singing on top. To get a better picture about it, I advise you to check out our official review where we go into details on HTC’s baby.
