Video: Apple’s first iPhone 4S ad is all about Siri, Siri, and Siri

Apple’s iPhone 4S, which broke the 12 month product cycle previous iPhone models have maintained and also let down many hardcore nerds who were expecting to see a new design featuring a larger screen, has easily become the most successful smartphone to ever be released. Just 3 days after going on sale, Apple announced that they put over 4 million units into customer’s hands. Moving that amount of product in that amount of time is impressive from both a logistical standpoint and for the consumer electronics industry as a whole. The highlight features of the iPhone 4S include a dual core Apple designed processor called the A5, which is the same processor found in the iPad 2, an 8 megapixel camera that’s faster to boot up and has a quicker shot to shot time, and finally Siri, the “personal assistant” that artificial intelligence junkies have been fantasizing about for decades. Apple’s first iPhone 4S commercial, if you even want to call it that, is all about Siri. Check it out to see what we mean:

As impressive as Siri is, the reviews we’ve been reading around the internet says it isn’t always perfect. In most cases, unless you’re speaking with the exact commands Siri understands, Siri will just shove your sentence into a Google query. Apple’s server, which are needed to make Siri work, also got slammed on launch day and rendered the “personal assistant” useless”. To be fair, Apple did say Siri is a beta product. We hope that it eventually comes to older iPhones, the iPads, and even Mac OS X. We also hope that the folks at Google are working tirelessly to outdo Apple and come up with something that makes Siri look like Windows 95.

What do you think, is Siri enough to get people to buy an iPhone 4S or does Apple need to market the other things that their latest smartphone can do?
