Galaxy Nexus 1080p video sample makes a damn good first impression

A photographer by the name of Romain Guy posted a sample video from the Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.0 smartphone to his Google+ profile. The result? Quite good. It’s yet another example of the continuous innovation going on to improve mobile phone cameras. There are some caveats, however. One Hacker News member pointed out that “When doing a time lapse, the number of frames you need to capture per second is much, much lower than the number of frames you need to capture for live video.” Another member commented saying that he was a bit underwhelmed by the quality of the Galaxy Nexus camera: “The non-tracked shots are shaky, the highlights are blown out, and shadow detail is almost completely non-existent.” These are both valid points. Guy does admit that he later edited the video using Adobe After Effects CS5. The quality is still very impressive, though. Editing a video can only do so much, and even with the two above points in place, the Galaxy Nexus camera seems to be a worth competitor to other smartphones — like, say, the iPhone 4S. Since its debut, the iPhone 4S has received nothing but praise for its camera, even when compared to standard point-and-shoots. Check out Romain Guy’s “Rockaway Beach” video from the Galaxy Nexus below and give us your own feedback.
