Well, it looks like the day many Android users have been patiently waiting for is coming soon — Google is allegedly baking up its own iTunes-like music store and a launch is imminent. People who accessed music.google.com from their Android phones were presented with the Google Music Beta Android app, and a “Shop millions of songs in Android Market” link that doesn’t work.
In fact, the landing page promoted the Google Music Beta app for Android, saying that you can store up to 20,000 songs in its cloud locker. This is all interesting because Google Music Beta was apparently supposed to have this functionality at launch, but the feature later died thanks to stalled talks with the major music labels. Last week, Google’s Andy Rubin hinted to everyone that Google was “close” to launching a music store and that it “will have a little twist.” So the fact that all of these leaks are beginning to appear shouldn’t really surprise anyone.
What I’m most excited about is how the search giant will integrate its music store with Google+, which would almost mimic how Spotify works on Facebook. Let’s hope this thing launches at the same time as the Galaxy Nexus to produce a combination that would blow some minds.
