Samsung S Pen SDK coming in December

So you like the new Samsung Galaxy Note but are afraid its S Pen will be limited to very few apps. To be fair your fears are somewhat justified as there are only few options you can/will be able to choose from, including apps like Zen Brush, OmniSketch, Soonr, iAnnotate PDF and ComicBook.

Luckily Samsung wants to push its S Pen forward and will be launching the SDK at some point in December. Using it, developers will be able to make apps that take advantage of the digitizer that comes built-in with Sammy’s tablet/smartphone. And while our imagination is pretty limited to the S Pen use cases, we do hope to see smart companies exploring its capabilities to enable new features. For instance, I could imagine an S Pen-enabled app for signing receipts and other business documents. Then there could be some Asia-specific apps that allow folks to use local sign languages. What’s more, drawing apps like Evernote’s Skitch could also take advantage of a dedicated stylus…

Do you have any ideas for the S Pen? Is there some app you would like to see using it? Comments form is all yours. 😉
