We don’t usually get much smartphone-related news from Cellcom, the Wisconsin-based regional carrier. Today we’re glad to say they’ve spiced up their offering just in time for the Christmas shopping season. However, you shouldn’t expect the very best phones from them — after all they don’t actually compete with the big boys like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile — rather their targeted market seems to include individuals who don’t care much about the latest tech mumbo-jumbo. In that sense, we’re delighted to see Cellcom pushing Android to its user base, eventually making smartphones mainstream.
Anyway, the mobile operator added three new devices to its portfolio: Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY, LG Ignite (aka Marquee) and Motorola Milestone 2, each of which can be purchased for $49.99 with a new two-year contract. Sounds like a fair price to me, what do you say? And we’re hoping they’ll get some traction among Cellcom’s customers. 😉
