Google I/O pushed to June 2012 – another day tacked on

If you’ve been looking forward to next year’s Google I/O next year, you may be disappointed to hear that the dates have been pushed back from April 24th-25th to June. It’s not all bad, though, as the search giant has also decided to throw another day into the conference, where usually there have only been two days.

Google’s developer conference is more popular than ever and this year’s event sold out in just under one hour. Google I/O 2012 will likely sell out in the same way, if not faster this time around. Earlier this year, we caught a glimpse of Android Ice Cream Sandwich and if we’re lucky, we could see a sneak peek of what’s to come, but that may be jumping the gun a little at this point. Still, even though we haven’t seen much Ice Cream Sandwich yet, we certainly wouldn’t be complaining about some Jelly Bean.

Google is known for having some, “Oprah moments” at the keynotes of its conference. At the I/O earlier this year, attendees received both a limited edition version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 as well as Samsung’s Chromebook. Of course, the I/O isn’t about getting free tech but for developers who would like to connect with developers and workshops for Google products, of which there are many.

So while you may have to wait an extra two months for the conference, you’ll get another day to meet other developers, along with more workshops and much more. The reasoning behind the date change is became of an “unexpected opportunity” and they took it. Sounds good to us!

Be sure to mark you calendars for June 27th – 29th. It’s sure to be one hell of a conference!
