Notion Ink Adam spotted running Android Ice Cream Sandwich

Remember the Notion Ink Adam? We can’t say that we blame you if you don’t but once upon a time the Adam sounded like one of the most promising Android tablets that would ever launch. Those thoughts were promptly laid to rest after seeing the software and bricks that shortly followed its release. Still, those of you who managed to grab one of the 30 tablets sold have something to get excited for, finally. The video below shows the Notion Ink Adam running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, possibly the best thing that’s ever happened for the Pixel Qi-toting tablet.

After watching the short video, it’s easy to see that the Adam has a long way to go before it gets itself a decent Ice Cream Sandwich ROM, as not much works at the moment. Also missing are any Google Apps, so don’t expect to get any Android Market lovin’ just yet. Still, we were just pretty happy to see that the Eden UI is nowhere to be found in the video. Eden initially seemed to show a lot of promise but that notion was shot in the face once a working port was brought to the ViewSonic G-Tablet and we got some hands-on time with it.

We do know that Notion Ink is working to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to the Adam officially at some point but when is the still big question. We’ve also heard that the company may launch the sequel to the first Adam some point this month but we obviously have our doubts about that one, too.

It’s good to see that the tablet hasn’t been completely forgotten in the development community but at this point, we’re not even sure if Ice Cream Sandwich can save the Adam. Maybe Notion Ink will change the way we think with the successor but we’re going to have to wait and see.

Check out the short video below.
