Apple iOS 5.1 beta 2 allows users to delete individual photos from Photo Stream

Apple seeded iOS 5.1 to developers in November, and the recently released beta 2 brings a feature we’ve all been longing for since iOS 5.0: the ability to delete individual photos from the Photo Stream.

One of the great advantages of Photo Stream is that it’s so effortless. Snap a photo, and it’s already in Photo Stream, which means it’s on all your other devices within a few seconds. This is also a major disadvantage too, since most people don’t want every single photo they take on all of their devices. Apple only gave us the option for all photos in Photo Stream or none whatsoever.

Thankfully, that’s about to change once iOS 5.1 is released to consumers. At the top of the Photo Stream album in the Photos app is a small, familiar delete button. Tap it to bring up a brief message that reads “This photo will be removed from the Photo Stream on all your devices.” along with the option to confirm the deletion — such a simple feature, yet it was neglected up until this point. This is a godsend for frequent party-goers.

Mike Flaminio of Insanely Great Mac posted a great tutorial video on YouTube for removing photos from Photo Stream. It’s conveniently embedded below.
