Developer considerations for the BlackBerry Storm

My buddy from Viigo, Mark Ruddock, just posted this video of the development challenges and bonuses of working on the BlackBerry Storm. Aside from being some outstanding action footage of the upcoming touchscreen device, we see how landscape and portrait modes unlock new possibilities, how the interface changes the user experience, and the use of gestures to replace keyboard shortcuts. These issues are old hat for a lot existing platforms, but it’s the first time BlackBerry developers have had to meet them, since they’ve been locked into a relatively static application environment for awhile now. The gestures look very cool, and something I’m a little acclimatized to with my Flock add-on, Mouse Gestures.

If you like the look of Viigo, you can give it a try on either BlackBerry and Windows Mobile, and hey, even win an iPod Touch with a $200 iTunes store gift certificate for recommending it to friends.
