The Samsung Galaxy Note has been available for a little bit outside of the United States but it could be landing on Sprint soon. According to rumors, Sprint and Samsung are planning to announce pricing and availability of this rather odd device at CES 2012 and Sprint would be joining AT&T as an additional carrier to start selling the smartphone/tablet.
The strange thing I mentioned earlier about the Galaxy Note is, well, no one actually knows what it is — including Samsung. It has a 5.3-inch display with a high resolution of 1280 x 800 but that screen size is too small to be a tablet and too big to be a mobile phone. So really, it’s a phone/tablet hybrid.
Another interesting aspect of the Galaxy Note is the stylus – which Samsung boasts about frequently. Steve Jobs once famously said, “If you have to use a stylus, you’ve already failed.” Samsung is obviously taking the opposite approach, since writing notes with a stylus generally feels more natural than scribbling with your finger.
Aside from the oddities, the Samsung Galaxy Note has a dual-core 1.4GHz processor, front camera, and rear camera with flash. It will also presumably be 4G-equipped.
So far Samsung said it has shipped over one million units and the imminent announcement at CES 2012 that the Note is arriving in America hints that it’s looking forward to one million more.
